When You Go See An Elder for any Reason
« on: May 06, 2018, 09:55:07 PM »
Even to present day, if you go to an Elder's home in many cultures not just Native Americans, it is customary to take a small gift of some kind, as a show of respect and giving honour.
In the culture of the Northern and Southern Nations of America, it is was always a pouch of unprocessed (No Chemicals Added) tobacco. When handed to him or her in the traditional way, if they accepted it you are welcomed to enter their home and can ask questions or have something done by them if possible. If you present your gift, and it is not accepted, do not take offense! it just means they cannot right now...
Also in older traditions, food and a good blanket was given.

NOTE: In most States in America, there are two definite brands of unprocessed tobacco that can be given and are reasonably very inexpensive. 1 ( BUGLER) loose pipe tobacco
2) "American Spirit" tobacco in loose pipe tobacco also and in cigarettes form.
