Cream Together:
2/3 cup shortening
3 eggs
21/4 cups Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Sift Together and Add:
2 cups Plain Flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
Stir in:
6 ounces chocolate chips
Pour batter into a 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut into bars.
A Much Simpler Recipe to go by for Congo Bars:
22 Graham Crackers, crushed
1 can of Eagle Brand Milk
16 ounces of chocolate Bits
Mix Well. Grease and flour an 8-9 inch square pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes in a 350-degree oven.
If the pan is glass, set the oven at 325 degrees. Cut into squares or bars.
