Weasel: Weasels are voracious eaters and expert hunters of small animals. Woodchucks, muskrats, gophers, and all manner of rodents are fair game for this mighty carnivore with razor sharp teeth. Weasels will attack animals many times their size. They are incredibly fast when striking, though they are not good long distance runners. They prefer to eat the brains and drink the blood of their victims, leaving the carcass untouched. Weasel's body is shaped like a long thin tube with short legs so that it can get into the small burrows of other creatures. The male is slightly bigger than the female, with a body length of 9 to 11 inches. Its predators include the owl, lynx, fox and larger relatives, such as the mink.
The gift of Weasel is quickness.
Many animals are fast over distance, but few can rival the darting speed with which Weasel can move.
If Weasel has come to you, it may be saying that you need to move more quickly in some aspect of your life. Speedy reflexes and quick action may be necessary to get yourself out of a difficult situation.
Weasels are wasteful by predatory standards. They eat only a small portion of their prey and leave the rest. This would be fine if their prey was out in the open for scavengers could finish the meal, but usually it is down holes that only a Weasel can get into.
Are you being wasteful in some area of your life? If so, you might need to learn from Weasel that such behavior may not be in keeping with the balanced patterns of Nature.
WHALE: There are several species of Whale, exhibiting a wide variety of characteristics and habits. The Blue Whale is the largest mammal to have ever lived, measuring over 90 feet and weighing up to 285,000 pounds. Some Whales are actively carnivorous; others, including the massive Blue Whale, are passive filter feeders which swim through the water eating krill and plankton. Whales sing. Their songs move and change as they migrate and they vary greatly from specie to species. The famous songs of the Humpback last from 10 minutes to an hour and then are repeated precisely. The 180 decibel bellow of the Blue Whale can be heard for 1000 miles by another Blue Whale. Almost all whales are in some degree of danger, as hunting and pollution have reduced the populations.
Whale inhabits the oceans, from where life on the Mother Earth arose. They are mammals who have remained in the sacred waters. They are thus closely linked to the origins of our life, and so hold the keys to our past and our knowledge.
The gift of Whale is to reconnect us with our natural instincts and our creative, intuitive, psychic side.
The warning of Whale is not to be easygoing or to mind your own business. Actively move out of the way of trouble, or defend yourself if necessary.
WOLF: there are several species of Wolf differing greatly in size, from 30 to 150 pounds. Before humans decimated their numbers. Wolfs lived in a wide variety of climates from arctic to subtropics. All of their senses are excellent and well above human ability. They prey mostly on hoofed animals, such as deer, moose and elk. Wolves hunt in packs, relying on endurance to run down weak and older animals. They have been known to run 35 miles a day in pursuit. With an extremely well developed societal organization, they act together to hunt and raise their young. They exercise a rigid hierarchy in their packs, with a dominant Wolf calling the shots. There are no documented cases of a wild Wolf killing a human in North America, though there has been verified in Europe. Wolves actually avoid people. They are seldom aggressive towards each other and rarely do they engage in actual violence. Only when Wolves are having a dominance struggle or when a stray tries to infiltrate the pack will there be blood.
Wolf medicine can teach you to have balance between your family's needs for you and your needs for you. Wolves are totally loyal to the pack.
If Wolf has come to you in vision or in the dreaming, you are being asked to look at where you are being too dependent and where you may be too independent. In both family and community, there needs to be balance between the two. Ask Wolf to teach this to you.
In Wolf terms, you can not be too loyal to the pack. In human terms, you can become too devoted to an idea, a group or family unit, particularly if the family is dysfunctional and robbing you of your strength and power.
If Wolf makes itself known to you, it may hold the message that it is time to break away from the pack you are in and start your own.
WOLVERINE: Wolverines are quite rare and are not often encountered by humans. They spend most of the day in burrows, and hunt at night. They prefer isolation, and do not breed prolifically. Today, they are found mostly in Canada. Although Wolverine are only about two and a half feet long, they are extremely successful hunters. There is a documented case of a Wolverine killing a full grown moose. They can run, climb, and swim all quite well. Tales of Wolverine's actions are extraordinary. They have been credited with superhuman intelligence and incredible malice, and the stories show that these assertions are valid. Wolverines will trigger traps set for other animals and foul them with a malodorous spray not quite as strong as skunk's.
They will steal food, blankets, just about anything they can carry and hide, and will destroy what they cannot move. If a hunter or trapper gets a Wolverine mad and lets it get away, his best bet is to leave that part of the country because the Wolverine will wage incessant warfare against a person who angered it. Even a full grown bear or cougar would rather run than compete with this terror for a kill.
And Wolverine is indeed the terror of the North American animal kingdom. Their gift is pure Aggression.
They make badger look like a rabbit in comparison.
If this rare creature has come to you, its message is to get tough. There are times when you need to call forth the strength and fury of Wolverine to help you through certain obstacles in life.
Are you in a fight with something for your life? Ask Wolverine to be your guide.
One can be too aggressive. Are you too aggressive when it comes to getting what you need? Do you drive people away when you really may need their help? Wolverine may be warning you to just back off from the situation and o something different.
