Old Timey Nut Loaf
« on: March 09, 2015, 07:32:31 PM »
This recipe was around when I was a little girl...Another one of the Grandmother's Franklin recipes...

3 cups plain flour
4 teaspoons Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
3/4 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup Chopped Walnuts
1 large Egg
1 1/2 cups Milk
2 Tablespoon Shortening (American) or) Fairy Margarine (Overseas) Melted

First, sift flour once before measuring. Then sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Add chopped walnuts to the flour mixture.

Beat egg, add milk and combine thoroughly with flour mixture, blend in melted shortening or fairy margarine.
Pour into well greased loaf pan (3 3/4 by 7 3/4  inches across the bottom and 2 3/4 inches deep)
**Let stand for 20 minutes at room temperature before baking.**

Bake 65 to 75 minutes at 350 (American) 180 (International)
