The year is somewhere, in the not so distant future�
The flickering light from cracks of the old cast iron stove, dimly lit some of the people huddled around trying to stay warm. The voice of the man speaking could barely be heard above the howling wind that whipped against the shanty like shack. It was pieced together by all manner of odds and ends, collected from the outside that laid in waste and destruction.
�But was the Machine Age that great and powerful?� Asked one of the younger men.
�Oh, they thought it was. They had machines and tools to do everything, a world of what they called �a world of modern conveniences. A person would not have to get up from their sitting place and do anything, that there was not some machine that did their work or bidding at a press of a button or by voice activation.�
�They thought of themselves as Gods, or at least above the laws of the Great Spirit God Himself.� Said the Elder man.�
Another voice said. �How could so mighty a people be destroyed?�
�When a tribe, or race, or civilization or people forget the ancient teachings of their Holy Ones and ignore the warnings of the Prophets sent by the Great Spirit, then they should expect the worst. Throughout history, as far back as time goes, the people were always warned by Prophets, when mankind has went way over the Great Spirit�s boundaries and laws. If they listened and changed their ways, then all is well. If not, they should expect whatever happens.�
�Is that what happened to the Indians?� Asked another person.
�Of course!� Answered the Elder. All creation within the entire universe is under the laws and rules of the one who created it, and there is and always will be just one��
�There were many multi languages that was spoken a long time ago, now in our time only one. Out of all that existed before, it mattered not which one was spoken to acknowledge the Great Spirit, there still is only one!�
��When they turned away from the teachings of the Great Spirit, then as a father of misbehaved children, they would be punished for their disobedience.� �All He ever wanted then for all, and stills wants now, is just to live in peace, not pieces.�
� To Love, Honor and Respect Him and each other, living in harmony with all creation in balance, as it was meant from the very beginning of time when it all began.�
�But the Indians did not have Prophets, did they?� Asked another one huddled by the fire.
�Certainly they did! They were told! Many Times! To stop their bickering and fighting among themselves, and join together as one people against evil and corruptness, and injustice of young and old alike.� �Like the other races, none listened.�
Pausing for a moment, the Elder continued.
�Long ago before all this destruction around us happened, there came a great Chief who was bred from many ancient warrior Chiefs before him, on both sides of his blood-line. He was brought together in wedlock with one of the last of the ancient Prophets; she was also bred from a great line of Prophets before her. The two was joined together by the Great Spirit to do one complete task. That was to bring together all Nations, All Tribes as one Nation again in peace and harmony. Putting aside their differences and work together jointly for one common purpose of perseverance of their race and cultures and most of all, belief in the one true Great Spirit and His teachings.�
�As you can see around you now, it did not last.� There was a time though, it looked as if the people was listening and turning away from their evil doings of thought and deed to each other.� �Only they fell right back into their ways of bickering and feuding and wickedness.� So, the Great Spirit took them home to be with Him, away from what was to happen as punishment for not listening to his anointed ones.�
�We know the rest of the story� Spoke the younger man again.
�Not all the rest, my young friend.� The Elder gently said.
� The last Prophet before she and the great Chief left us spoke that there was a new spring coming, a new people would arise from the ashes, like the phoenix of our ancient people.� �A new people with no evil, no bitterness, no harm in their hearts. �Who would restore Earth Mother as she once was, rebuild the Love and friendship, brother and sisterhood among one another again.� �Most of all, to keep the one law, now given by the Great Spirit to follow for all of eternity, as it was prophesized from the Great Spirit through the last Prophet.�
�Elder, what was this one law?� asked the young man, who came closer to make sure he heard the answer.
The Elder leaning back a little from the fire from the hot stove, looking at the young man with such eagerness in his face and eyes for the answer� He studied the young face for a moment, seeing the very future before him.
As he pondered this thought, he felt within him, the renewed hope that was spoke of. It bathed and washed over his entire spirit with such warmth no earthly fire could ever put forth. This warmth was the eternal Love of the Great Spirit flooding over him and every fiber of his total being.
He leaned forward again, and as he did so, all in the room took noticed �an unearthly radiance shone from the Elder�s face!
Gasps of amazement and wonder came from all! As each one knew at the same time, the meaning of what had just happened. They knew the prophecies have now come full circle once again; they were gazing into what was The absolute �Pure Unconditional Love� of the Great Spirit, shining forth from this old and wrinkled faced Elder!
The question was answered with not another word spoken.
