Death can and is very often so hard and difficult on the immediate and extended families and friends. But death is only the beginning of a new a wonderful journey! No more pain as we know it on this side, and free of the worries, trials and tribulations we go through on a day by day basis. Yes, the separation from our loved ones is extremely hard.
The traditional way my people handle the separation of our loved ones and friends, is to light a bon fire. All family members and friends sing a song in unionson to help guide the spirit/soul through the veil between the worlds to where the Ancestors of the ones who have went before will be waiting to welcome them home there. When the song is finished we throw a going away present into the fire to send to them in the Spirit world for them or their new home to let them know we wish them well until we come to join them. We never say goodbye, we only say we will see one another later..
