EAGLE: The Golden Eagle's range is from Alaska to New Mexico, and in the Eastern Hemisphere from Tibet to North Africa. The Bald Eagle is a bit larger than the Golden. but not as graceful or as high flying.
Of the two, the Golden Eagle is more of a hunter, sometimes attacking coyotes and sheep. The Bald Eagle has been known to rob other birds of their catches of fish. Unlike many birds, Eagles require total isolation from human encroachment to breed in the wild. If a human strays to close or touches an Eagle's nest, they are very likely to abandon it. Eagles tend to be territorial only when food is scarce, tolerating the presence of other birds except when incubating, in which they will chase off intruders. Eagles build their nests high on cliffs or near tops of the tallest in a given spot. Both male and females incubate the eggs.
Eagle is a sacred messenger, carrying our prayers to the Creator and returning with answers and gifts and visions for the people. Golden Eagle flies higher than any other bird and , in many traditions, is the spirit keeper of the East, from whence comes dawn and illumination of the darkness in which he protects. Owls are the opposite from Eagle who is the one who protects the darkness and night.
Eagles feathers aid medicine men and women in calling on this connection when they need to contact Spirit for healing.
If Eagle has blessed you by coming in the dreaming/vision or physically in some way, you are being given some very potent gifts of clarity and vision to use for good of all people. You can bring forth light from the darkness.
The other message Eagle holds for us is a reminder. Are you talking to your relations and praying to the Creator, or are you placing other things ahead of them? Spirit does not judge us, but can gently remind us through the messenger. Eagle, to keep in our minds and hearts what is important in life.
EARTHWORM: Earthworm are hermaphroditic, being both male and female. They have both sex gonads in separate segments of their bodies. In healthy soil, they represent one half of the total weight in life, there being 12 tons per acre in every rich soil. Worms have no eyes, but go underground when they sense light. They eat plant debris, and benefit soil by aerating it as they move and eat. This allows the bacteria that cause decomposition to thrive and enrich soils.
Earthworm brings the power of fertility. by the sacred crawl that they do, they help make the soil more fertile for plants.
If worm appears to you, you are being asked to see in what areas of your life you can improve the fertility, or life-giving powers, of your Earth walk. Are you helping the environment around you? Are your thoughts and actions productive and life affirming?
When a strong rain comes, worms crawl to the surface to get out of the water. Water represents emotions. Are you comfortable with strong emotions or to you try to get to dry ground when the floods come? Or do you slither away from your feelings?
May be worm is trying to teach you "Get comfortable with your own feeling, and the feelings of other people, before the early bird gets you!"
Elephant: Elephants of all sizes and locations all over the world, they are a treasure indeed of loyalty, fearlessness and intelligence. Not only are they known for their pure brute strength, but they can be so gentle and easy when they want to be, that they can hold a human baby and cradle it in its mighty trunk without any harm coming to it what-so-ever!
They can and do teach us, we do not have to be a brute or bully to others to prove anything. We can stay loving and gentle no matter what size we are. It is what is in our hearts and what our true intentions are that matters.
If you have vision or dream of an Elephant coming to you, be glad and happy for this is truly a good and honest sigh of a very well rounded person you are and can be in life.
ELK: Elk never graze at night. An attack herd will bolt in all directions so as to confuse a predator. They can run a very long time, and wolves that prey on Elk will get only the weakest or the injured. Unlike deer, they tend to be aloof and hard to see from the roadsides. They are very majestic in their bearing. Adult bulls with a full set of antlers are a match for any animal they would encounter, including a bear. Like the deer, they have contests to see who will earn the rights to mate with the does; but unlike the deer, Elk will fight very aggressively and frequently draw blood or worse.
Elk has such a regal demeanor. If you need to be impressive in a situation, be it a job interview or meeting someone for a good first impression, it would be good to call upon Elk Spirit to help you do just that, and connect with Elk and learn from it.
If Elk has already come to you in some way, it may be telling you to polish your act and carry yourself with a good pride (not false). That does not mean to be egotistical, however, for Elk knows that its power comes from the Earth and the Creator. It shows off the gifts it has been given and uses them to his advantage. Elk medicine can help tremendously if you are shy or unsure with yourself.
FLY: There are many different species of Fly. They need to take their food in liquid form. If their food isn't in this form, then they add acids and enzymes to convert it. Flies carry diseases, which is a reason to keep them completely away from your food.
Fly defiantly has the power of persistence, if you have something for it to eat as we all know it will keep on and keep on attacking what you have just to get a chance to eat. If you have nothing for it to it, it will find a window and bash itself repeatedly trying to get out. They can go for a good hour or better before tiring and starting all over again against an immovable barrier, until it is no longer there or they finally die in the process. Yes, persistence is their fist, middle and last name.
Note: The difference in the Fly species in the Americas compared to Australia, Europeans have been known to go literally mad because the Flies behavior is so radical! The Flies in the Americans will of course be a bother landing on you and one has to swat them off or away. The ones in Australia not only land on you, but will try to go into your nostrils, ears or any open orifice they can find to crawl up into on your body!
The Aussies, have made a running joke a factual thing, that is why they mostly talk with their mouths shut, unlike the Americans who speak with a more open mouth so as to enunciate words.
Persistence in matters of personal growth and discipline is very good.
Persistence that ends up being annoying to another is not good. That is why flypaper and sprays are a multi- million dollar industry. If you can be tenacious to a point of hurting your own cause, look at the Fly and realize that, while this might achieve your objectives, it does not make you any friends.
FOX: There are several kinds of Foxes, but they all share the extreme cleverness and cunning that gave rise to the expression, "sly as a Fox" A Fox being pursued by hounds will run across the tops of walls, cross streams diagonally, double back on its trail, venture on thin ice that will not support dogs, and it may even take a ride on the back of a sheep in order to break the trail of its scent. They are just as clever when hunting prey.
And to rid itself of fleas, a Fox will pick up a stick in its mouth, hold it across its back and slowly submerge itself in water. If it did this quickly, the fleas would only burrow deeper into the fur and stay on. With Fox's slow submersion the fleas are able to climb to higher looking for drier ground. By the time Fox is totally under water, the fleas have reached the stick. It is then that Fox lets go of the stick and send the fleas to their downriver fate.
Fox brings us the gifts of cleverness and subtlety. Fox has the ability to outwit both predators and prey. If you find yourself in a situation that calls for slipping out quietly, call upon Fox to guide you.
If Fox comes to you in some form, it may be advising you to stop being so obvious in your actions and approach things more discreetly. He also can be saying that being too crafty and clever can get you singled out and into deep trouble if not wise and careful.
FROG: The Frog is best known for its singing by lakes, ponds and streams. Only males sing. Frogs control insect populations, consuming vast amounts of insects every year. There are over 20 species in the U.S. from 1 and 3/8 inch Wood Frog to the 8 inch Bull Frog. They have extremely sticky tongues, which they shoot out several inches with great precision to catch a meal.
Frog is the caller and cleanser of the emotions.
In some traditions, Frog is the spirit keeper of the element of water, which represents and connects to our emotions. Their songs are soothing and healing, and can bring peace to our inner turmoil. Some Amazon tribes could predict the rains from the song of the Frog.
If Frog has come to you in vision/dreaming or even physically, look at your emotions at the moment, and see if they are in harmony with the rhythms of nature or if they need cleansing.
Many Frogs secrete liquids that coat their skin and make them taste bad to predators. So if a predator picks up a Frog in its mouth, it usually will spit it right back out. Some of the secretions are poisonous, and if a predator is too quick for its own good, it will eat the Frog and topple over dead! The poisonous Frogs, including the Poison Arrow Frog of the Amazon which are bright red, are usually coloured in distinctive ways to warn predators prior to an encounter. This is also means that the Frog are easy to spot by humans, who capture and kill them to extract their poisons.
Are you too defensive? Is every question directed your way perceived as an attack? If so, learn from Frog that too strong a defense also can be a liability.
