Animal Totems and their Lessons in Life (K -L)

Lizard: There are many different Lizards, including the Chameleon, which can change the colour of its skin to blend with is environment; the Komodo Dragon, a 10 foot long, 300 pound predator that eats wild pigs and deer; and the 800 species of common Gecko. Lizards are cold-blooded reptiles, meaning they require the warmth of the sun to make them more active. All have dry scaly skin. Most Lizards can voluntarily break off their tails, using the muscles that surround a particularly weak vertebra. They do this to escape predators. The tail is left behind, writhing to distract the predator, while the Lizard makes its escape. They can only do this once, however, since the replacement tail they grow is made of cartilage instead of having vertebrae.

The power of Lizard lies in the ability to save itself from danger by leaving a part of itself behind.

If Lizard appears to you, it may be suggesting that now is the time for you to drop from your life something that has been an integral part of your life, because it is now endangers you in some way.  The danger may be at any level - physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual.

Have you smoked for years? Is your long term marriage suffocating you? Is the job you held for so long destroying your creativity?
Remember also that Lizard leaves its tail only once. Its new one is different from the original , and won't break away.

So Lizard tells you to make your decisions wisely, you may have only the one chance. You may have to live with it for a long time, as it follows you around.
