I recently came across a person, whom very bluntly made the statement to me: "That I was an idiot to believe in the "Creator" or a higher being".
This presented a spiritual challenge of my faith and how strong my belief compares to his.
I asked him to please explain his thoughts and belief on his statement to me..
All he said was: "Mankind is the only true intelligence in the universe and is self sufficient, and has been from the beginning of time itself".
Without even referring to anything in the King James, I preceded to present my case..
First off, I asked him what was his view point on how mankind and the universe came into existence to begin with.. did both just pop out of nowhere??? or was that the big bang that is talked about???
("No"), was the reply to that, with a shrug of the shoulders and a ho-hum look on his face)...
Alright then, I thought.. Then I preceded to ask the obvious.. Just how do you think human beings came into the world???
His answer was this.. " I believe we just appeared like everything else has.
I then let loose with this at him.. Are you saying there cannot be a higher force in the cosmos or universe that made this all happened, it just did and that is that eh?
"Yep that is it" he replied
OK, so you got it in your head that nothing can be smarter than mankind and he can create life out of nothingness?
"I guess" he said
So there could be a super human being that helped bring about the universe and mankind maybe?
"Maybe, could be" he said "I don't really know"
Sure, then you think there could be a possibility there is someone or something that intervened along the way with the universe and mankind existence? a higher being than JUST a normal every day run of the meal human being?
"OK YES!" he shouted at me at this point..
Lastly I gave him this thought to ponder..
Even a full-fledged atheist has to believe in something, in order to believe in nothing...
NOTE: If someone by talking, can cause you to doubt your beliefs, then did you truly believe them?
