Southern Sweet Potato Casserole
Pre-heat oven to: (States: 350 degrees) (Overseas 180 degrees)
1-large regular baking dish greased in butter bottom and sides (9x13)
5- Large sweet potatoes (Peeled, cooked and mashed)
�- teaspoon salt
�- cup real butter
2- eggs slightly beaten
1- teaspoon vanilla extract
� -teaspoon cinnamon
�- cup white sugar
2- Tablespoon cream or) evaporated milk
Topping Crumb Crust:
�- Cup of Softened Real Butter
6- Tablespoons of all-purpose flour
1 �- cups of light brown sugar
1- cup of chopped Pecans
Combine potatoes, salt, � cup of butter, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar and cream. Pour into greased baking dish. Now lets mix your crust.. Mix with your fingers all the ingredients until it resembles coarse meal..Sprinkle over the top of your potato mixture in the baking dish.
BAKE FOR 30 MINUTES
NOTE: Even though this for as long as I can possibly remember growing up, was always served with the main Holiday meals as a casserole dish. My Aussie husband, with the first time eating this, politely said it was a dessert.. and it could be served with ice cream or put into a tart shell and served that way as a dessert.. LOL...
