Feathers vs Turbins and Beadwork
« on: April 17, 2019, 09:58:01 PM »
This will be short article.. It is only to help clarify a huge misconception by most that ALL Northern American Indigenous wear feathered head pieces/bonnets.

It is a common mistake because of the portrayal of nothing but "Plains" Indians compared to the "Woodlands" Indians seen on television and movies.

Woodland Indians men usually wore turbans for the head pieces with maybe a turkey feather or pheasant on the side. Older woman also wore a cloth that looked a lot like a bandana tied on the head.  The younger were known to wear patterned bead-worked head bands.
